55% Al-Zn
Alloy Coated APGL
GL is a corrosion
- resistant, Al - Zn Alloy coated steel produced by continuous hot dipped
process. The Alloy coating comprises of 55% Aluminium (Al), 43.4% Zinc (Zn) and
1.6% Silicon (Si).

Formability and Durability
Amcan
Prepainted GL sheet can be formed as readily as Prepainted Gi Sheet
to meet the customers' requirement.
Cost effective performance
As
material made with the equivalent GL and Gi classes has essentially
the same average coating thickness with different coating mass, the
area per ton is slightly larger for GL.

Performance
APGL
The alloy coating of GL provide a balance between
the corrosion resistant quality of Zn plus Al and the sacrificial galvanic
protection ability of Zn. Thus, suitable for severe marine environment and high
acidic area applications. As shown in Photo, the alloy coating has Al-rich phase
and Zn-rich phase formed like net structure. Accordingly, it provides galvanic
protection to bare steel by a similar mechanism to Zn coatings, and also
corrosion resistance of Al prevents the steel from rusting in good balance with
Zn function. On the other hand, Al 100% coating itself cannot prevent the steel
from rusting on its cut end section or if it has a scratch which reveals the
bare steel.
